The Boeing Company’s Global Services (BGS) C-17 team is seekinga mid-level Flight Controls System Engineer for exciting opportunities within the C-17 Avionics & Flight Controls (AVFC) team to develop and test associated systems. A high-wing, four-engine,T-tailed aircraft with a rear-loading ramp, the C-17 can carry large combat equipment and troops or humanitarian aid across international distances directly to small austere airfields anywhere in the world.

This position is located in Long Beach, California.

• Work in a collaborative environment with other team members in the design, analysis, test, and sustainment of the C-17 Flight Control System.
• Work with autopilot, stability augmentation system, primary flight controls, high lift controls, and fly-by-wire control systems.
• Will be assigned work that allows them to showcase skills in the following areas:
  • Classical and/or advanced control theory used to support control law development
  • Company, supplier and USAF performance and safety requirements or specifications used to develop flight control systems
  • Sensors, computers, servo-actuation systems, redundancy management functions, pilot/operator of control systems in both field and development environment.
• Formulate requirements, evaluate control concepts in simulation facilities, document detailed designs for use by software designers, perform lab and flight test validation testing, and use computer workstation analysis and test tools.
• Ability to work onsite 5 days per week.
• Ability to travel domestically in support of Lab/Flight Test and Air Force customer meetings may be required.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry required.
• 3+ years of experience in fixed-wing aircraft systems and the feedback control of airplanes

• Good to excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people and organizations
• Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. This position is for 1st shift.
