Position:
Low Voltage Component Engineer
Duration: 12 month contract + extensions/conversions
Location: Long Beach, CA - 4 days onsite
Pay Range: $59/hr - $68.50/hr
** Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Day to DayFord is seeking an engineer to support low voltage electronic components across multiple vehicle programs. This role focuses on supplier engagement, validation testing, and ensuring component functionality within the 12V automotive environment. The ideal candidate brings strong electrical fundamentals and experience working with various communication protocols and electronic modules.
Responsibilities- Support low voltage (12V) electronic components across multiple teams and programs
- Collaborate with suppliers to review requirements, test plans, and validation results
- Perform validation testing, electrical characterization, voltage drop analysis, and functional checks
- Ensure suppliers complete required testing and meet component performance expectations
- Evaluate component functionality and confirm feature performance in vehicle systems
- Work with a wide range of components including UWB, Bluetooth and BLE, audio modules, NFC readers, vehicle access modules, and telematics units
- Manage high volumes of components and incoming work across programs
- Provide technical support and clarification for internal teams
- Document test results, issues, and supplier feedback
- Participate in scenario based technical reviews during the evaluation process
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
- Experience with validation testing, component testing, or electrical characterization
- Familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Bluetooth, UWB, NFC, etc.)
- Ability to work in a hands on testing environment
- Experience with voltage drop testing and 12V automotive systems
- Automotive background strongly preferred (OEM, tier suppliers, small vehicle, commercial or industrial electronics, robotics)
- Open to early or mid career engineers who may need some direction
- Must work onsite in Long Beach 4 days per week
- Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier background
- Small electric vehicles (golf carts, utility vehicles)
- Commercial industrial electronics or robotics
- Wireless module testing (Bluetooth, NFC, UWB)
