Buyer II - Fasteners

Overview

Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more – with the goal of opening access space. The Space Systems and supply chain functions support NASA missions and aerospace projects, including the Electron and Neutron rocket programs and related satellite components.

• Accountable for converting purchase requisitions into purchase orders after evaluating vendor capability, price, delivery needs, and vendor performance.
• Accountable for the on-time delivery of purchased parts from vendors to Rocket Lab.
• Responsible for owning the business relationship with assigned suppliers.
• Responsible for managing the RFQ process to secure competitive bids and ensure best price for goods and services.
• Integrate with engineering teams to meet procurement requirements and act as primary point of contact for R&D order status.
• Provide status to material planners on latest status of purchase orders and expected delivery dates.
• Negotiate terms with suppliers to meet quality, cost and delivery requirements.
• Maintain purchase order data within the ERP system.
• Perform other duties as assigned by your manager relevant to the role.

• 2+ years of experience in buying or manufacturing engineering and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience (6+ years of total work experience).
• Proven ability to source, onboard, and negotiate pricing with suppliers.
• Proven knowledge of purchasing processes.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of time.

• Familiarity with sourcing and managing aerospace-grade fasteners and related hardware.
• Understanding of industry standards and certifications for fasteners (NAS, MS, AN) used in aerospace.
• Established relationships with fastener suppliers or distributors in aerospace/defense.
• Proficient in MRP systems.
• Experience in aerospace, EV automotive, or disruptive manufacturing industries; experience in rapid growth environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with AS9100, US export controls.
• Strong organization and problem-solving skills, with ability to prioritize.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Team oriented, capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment and meeting multiple deadlines.

• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus.
• Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be physically able to commute to buildings.
• Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate noise.

Base salary is determined case-by-case and may vary based on job-related knowledge, education, and experience. Base Pay Range (CA Only): $75,000—$95,000 USD.
