The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician supports offshore and remote industrial operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and commissioning electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. This role operates on a 14-days offshore / 14-days at home rotation, combining hands-on field execution with remote technical support activities. The technician ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operation of critical electrical and control infrastructure in mission-critical environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems, including transmitters, analyzers, sensors, control panels, PLCs, and SCADA components.
Troubleshoot electrical, control, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
Calibrate, test, and commission field instrumentation and control devices in accordance with specifications and procedures.
Interpret and work from electrical schematics, loop diagrams, P&IDs, single-line drawings, and control narratives.
Install, wire, terminate, and verify electrical and instrumentation systems in compliance with NEC, NFPA, and site safety standards.
Support system upgrades, retrofits, and new installations in coordination with engineering and operations teams.
Assist with PLC, DCS, and SCADA troubleshooting, including I/O verification and signal validation.
Perform lockout/tagout and follow all electrical safety and hazard control procedures.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, calibration documentation, and work reports.
Provide remote diagnostic support, documentation updates, and planning activities during onshore rotation periods.
Required QualificationsAssociate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in Instrumentation, Electrical, Controls, or a related technical discipline.
Demonstrated experience as an I&E Technician in industrial, energy, offshore, or process environments.
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and instrumentation documentation.
Experience troubleshooting low- and medium-voltage electrical systems and industrial instrumentation.
Familiarity with calibration tools, multimeters, loop testers, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
Willingness and ability to work a 14/14 offshore rotation.
Strong safety awareness and adherence to electrical and industrial safety standards.
Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a remote team.
Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting PLC, DCS, or SCADA systems in an operational environment.
Familiarity with industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
Offshore safety training or credentials (e.g., HUET, TWIC, BOSIET) as applicable.
ISA, NICET, or other relevant instrumentation or electrical certifications.
