Assistant Chief Engineer
Assistant Chief Engineer responsible for ensuring the highest level of professionalism while meeting the client’s needs and maintaining 100% uptime for the engineering team. Oversees operational management, daily leadership, and ensures safety and cost‑effective operation of machinery and systems. Implements reliability‑based maintenance, protects and improves client asset value, executes equipment inspection and monitoring, and continually enhances maintenance, operations, and reliability methods.
Job Responsibilities- Monitors operation and maintains refrigeration, HVAC, and other mechanical/electrical equipment, reviews logs, reports problems, performs preventive tasks, and oversees repair & preventive maintenance (P.M.) for HVAC systems.
- Ensures adequate inventory of tools and supplies, prepares purchase orders, sources stock materials, and monitors inventory levels and equipment conditions.
- Oversees contractor activities within the building, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Identifies safety hazards, manages remediation, implements safety training programs, and maintains compliance documentation including building drawings and single‑ுனlines.
- Supervises and manages building engineers and maintenance staff—hiring, training, development, and performance management.
- Promotes understanding of Facility Work Flow (FWF) among staff, engineers, tenants, and contractors.
- Develops QA/QC processes, facilitates MEP and infrastructure assessments, and emphasizesèan preventive over corrective maintenance.
- Supports staff schedule changes and provides training and support to broaden staff capabilities.
- Remains abreast of safety and code changes through seminars and educational means.
- Provides input client work order tracking system, initiates work orders, develops material lists, and provides technical support for projects.
- Responds to emergency situations, troubleshoots, repairs problems, and performs housekeeping tasks.
- Completes work in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
- Engages with leaders and stakeholders.
- Engages with employees organizationally as needed.
- Engages with customers and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional education.
- One‑year certificate from college or technical school or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Universal CFC.
- Technical degree in HVAC or five or more years of related experience.
- Active Refrigeration Technician license.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and perform physical labor related to maintenance and repair.
- Moderate to loud noise level in work environment.
- Possible frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock; occasional weturit; humid conditions; high, precarious places and outside weather.

- Availability to respond to after‑hours emergencies as necessary.
