HDR is an industry leader in the wastewater market, ranked #7 by ENR, partnering with clients to implement water management strategies across the hydrological cycle. Our goal is to assist clients in navigating regulations, aging infrastructure, nutrient loadings, and customer concerns, from treatment and conveyance to maintenance of pipelines and other equipment.
ResponsibilitiesLead the Southern California program, setting vision and strategy, providing research, planning, design and engineering services to wastewater agencies, related clients, and research organizations. Engage with local and national leadership, community organizations, professional associations, and industry forums, and take active leadership roles.
Serve as client manager, Principal in charge, Project Manager, Technical Lead, or Quality Manager on projects, pursuing new opportunities and supporting HDR pursuits. Oversee project types such as studies, master planning, design of pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, and facility/system optimization. Lead or participate in applied research projects for the One Water Institute and collaborate with the Water Research Foundation.
Act as a resource for market development, representing HDR in meetings, conferences, and industry events, and actively manage the wastewater Market Sector staff in Southern California offices.
Preferred Qualifications- B.S. degree in Engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum of 15+ years of industry experience, primarily with clients and projects in Southern California and strong ability to analyze the marketplace and strategically position HDR.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software.
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
- Experience in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
- Experience in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.
- Experience with overall staff development, including recruiting, career path, and professional growth.
- Experience with industry associations and maintaining a visible profile in the market sector.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a range of senior leaders within HDR.
- Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and active participation in the employee‑owned culture.
