Senior Estimator – Underground Power Transmission & Distribution

A leading utility contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction efforts on complex underground power transmission and distribution projects across Southern California.

• Lead the development of full-scope, competitive cost estimates for underground power T&D projects
• Perform and oversee detailed takeoffs, pricing strategies, and bid packaging
• Analyze labor productivity, equipment utilization, subcontractor scope, and material costs
• Review utility standards, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Drive bid strategy, risk assessment, and value engineering discussions
• Coordinate with project management, field leadership, and vendors during preconstruction
• Support awarded projects with budget validation, change order pricing, and cost forecasting
• Mentor junior estimators and contribute to estimating process improvements

• 12–15+ years of construction industry experience, with 8–10+ years in at‑risk construction estimating
• Strong experience estimating underground power transmission and distribution projects
• Direct estimating exposure to SDG&E, PG&E, SCE, or similar investor‑owned utilities
• Candidates whose background is primarily client‑side budget estimating will not be considered
• Proficiency with estimating software and advanced Excel‑based cost modeling
• Ability to lead estimates independently and present pricing to leadership

• Estimating experience for substations, power plants, or complex utility facilities
• Leadership experience within an estimating or preconstruction team
• Local market knowledge of Southern California labor, production rates, and utility standards

• Relocation assistance may be considered for highly qualified senior‑level candidates
