Responsibilities
  • Mechanical Design:
    Lead the detailed mechanical design of thermal system components and supporting bracketry using CAD software, ensuring manufacturability and serviceability.
  • Packaging & Integration:
    Optimize component packaging within the tight constraints of the vehicle, collaborating with vehicle integration teams and other thermal subsystem engineers.
  • Supplier Management:
    Collaborate with suppliers on component design, development, and manufacturing processes, ensuring components meet specifications and cost targets. Evaluate "build-to-print" vs. "full-service" supplier models.
  • Material Selection:
    Select appropriate materials for thermal components, considering thermal properties, durability, corrosion resistance, and cost.
  • Problem Solving:
    Provide mechanical engineering expertise to diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues identified during testing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for thermal systems, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA V6)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in supplier technical management.
  • Experience using CAE tools to assess designs (e.g., Ansys, Abaqus, Star-CCM+).
