Senior Project Manager – Heavy Civil (Design-Build) | California | $190K–$225K + Benefits

Are you a senior-level civil construction professional with a passion for delivering complex infrastructure projects through alternative delivery methods?

We're working with a leading heavy civil contractor seeking a Project Manager to lead high-profile design-build and alternative delivery projects across California
. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven leader to drive technical execution and project delivery in a region experiencing significant infrastructure investment.

• Take ownership of preconstruction strategy for major design-build, CM/GC, and progressive design-build pursuits.
• Drive constructability reviews, risk assessments, phasing strategies, and value engineering (VE) in collaboration with estimating, design, and pursuit teams.
• Represent operational leadership in ATC development and technical proposal creation alongside proposal and marketing staff.
• Interface with designers, consultants, and owners to align design solutions with constructability and execution goals.

• Transition seamlessly into the Project Manager role post-award.
• Lead project delivery from start-up through completion, with full responsibility for schedule, cost control, safety, and quality.
• Manage subcontractor performance, contract compliance, and client communications across a variety of heavy civil scopes – including earthwork, structures, utilities, and roadway.

• Build and lead high-performing project teams.
• Mentor field engineers and junior PMs.
• Maintain strong relationships with public agency clients, design partners, and joint venture stakeholders.

• 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, ideally with exposure to design-build and alternative delivery.
• Proven ability to lead large-scale infrastructure projects (transportation, transit, water, highway, or related).
• Deep understanding of constructability, execution planning, ATCs, and VE processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

• Base salary: $190,000 – $225,000

Location: Based out of Long Beach, California and connecting with multiple regional offices and project sites throughout the state. Travel within California may be required depending on project and pursuit.
