Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Director of Veterans Services, the incumbent will provide comprehensive advising that is equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive, and that enhances the quality of campus life and supports the academic success of student veterans, service members, and eligible dependents. The incumbent will also serve as School Certifying Official for certification of U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) and California Department of Veterans Affairs (CDVA) education and vocational rehabilitation benefits for eligible students.
This position uses a student‑centered and equity‑minded approach in all communication and service efforts.
- Serve as advisor to prospective and current CSULB student veterans, service members, and dependents.
- Monitor the academic progress of all CSULB veterans, service members, and dependents.
- Certify USDVA and CDVA education and vocational rehabilitation benefits. Perform certification of federal veterans’ benefits for eligible students in accordance with federal law, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs regulations, and CSU and CSULB policies.

CompensationSalary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
- Hiring Range: $5,083 – $5,750 per month, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,083 – $7,228 per month.
To be eligible for full benefits at CSU, you must be appointed at least half‑time (.50 FTE) and your appointment must last more than six months and one day. Eligible employees have access to a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Experience using CMS database to retrieve student contact and academic information; using Enrollment Manager to enter and retrieve student veteran education benefits. Understanding of CSULB academic requirements, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Knowledge of U.S. and California Departments of Veterans Affairs educational benefits. Ability to speak in public, give presentations, and exercise sound time‑management skills. Outstanding written and oral communication skills with diverse audiences.
