Effective Date: August 17, 2026 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: The Full-Time Lecturer B (Academic Year) classification salary is $74,652 to $158,688 per academic year (paid as 12 monthly payments). The anticipated hiring range is $85,008 to $90,000 per year. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

- Master’s Degree in Sign Linguistics, Sign Language Interpreting, Translation Studies, Deaf Studies, Disability Studies, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Demonstrated effectiveness with student engagement
- Demonstrated fluency in ASL, signing skills at a native or native-like level
- Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. with specialization in Sign Linguistics, Sign Language Interpreting, Translation Studies, Deaf Studies, Disability Studies, or a related discipline. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion by August 1, 2026.
- Excellence in teaching undergraduate students in Sign Language Interpreting and Deaf multicultural contents.
- Potential for research and scholarly activities focused on deaf sign languages and d/Deaf identities and cultures.
- Ability to work well with existing linguistic and ASLD faculty members.
- Past collaboration with local, and/or national and/or global d/Deaf communities.
- Experience working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body.
- Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom.
- Teach courses such as ASL Linguistics, Beginning/Intermediate/Advanced Interpreting and Ethics, Practicum, (Interpreting) Exam Preparation, ASL 1-4, ASL Literature and Poetry, American Deaf Cultures, Sign Language Sociolinguistics, Critical Deaf and Disability Studies, and/or Global Deaf Cultures and Languages. Instruction modes may include in-person, hybrid, online, or any combination thereof.
- Teach any ASLD course in the language of ASL
- Engage in departmental, college, university, and community service
- Collaborate with existing ASLD faculty to connect with local, national, and/or global d/Deaf communities
- Lead possible student research projects
- Serve as a Faculty Advisor for students majoring in or minoring in the ASLD program
- Lead a student organization affiliated with the ASLD program and outreach in local d/Deaf and signing communities
