Compensation and BenefitsCompetitive Starting Annual Salary: $360,000-$375,000. Additionally, employees are eligible to receive up to $15,000 in performance-based pay annually. Furthermore, employees can qualify for Proficiency Awards, which are available in addition to Pay for Performance incentives. Regular salary reviews will occur every two years, and all employees will receive cost-of-living adjustments annually.
Work ScheduleWork Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am-4:30pm (flexibility available for negotiation)
Practice EnvironmentPractice Environment: Inpatient and outpatient clinic setting with a panel size consisting of one Section Chief, four Staff Physicians, and five Nurse Practitioners.
Academic AffiliationsAcademic Affiliations: UC, Irvine. Offering academic appointments and resident teaching opportunities.
Call CoverageCall Coverage: Serves as the second on-call for the hematology/oncology consulting service, with the fellow typically designated as the first on-call. This role involves an estimated commitment of 12 to 14 weeks per year.
Qualifications- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- D. or D.O. (Schools of Medicine Accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association). Foreign medical graduates must be verified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
- Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completed Residency Training.
- Board Certified or Eligible in Hematology/ Oncology.
- Recent or upcoming new grads welcomed!
- Recruitment/ Relocation Incentive is approved.
- Education Debt Reduction Program: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
- Continuing Education (CME): As a VA physician, you can earn CME credits at no cost. You can receive $1,000 or more annually and five days of paid absences to attend CME courses (conditions apply). Currently, the VA may allocate appropriated funds to provide training for frontline medical providers, with a maximum amount of $2,500 per year for fiscal year 2026.
- Liability Protection : VA providers are protected by the federal government in instances of alleged malpractice or negligence resulting from the performance of their duties in or for the Veterans Health Administration, at no cost.
- Paid Time Off: You will receive 208 hours or approximately 26 days of annual leave a year. Unlimited accumulation of paid sick time and 11 paid federal holidays will begin accruing upon entry.
