Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Director, the Engagement & Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the operations and programming of New Student and Family Programs (NSFP). This role provides comprehensive administrative support and co-leads programming that contributes to CSULB students’ orientation, transition and retention along with parent/supporter engagement. Key administrative responsibilities include collaborating with NSFP staff to conceptualize, design, implement, staff, and evaluate equitable and inclusive programming designed to assist students successfully adapt to college life and persist through graduation along with programming designed to actively engage and educate parents/supporters.
Additionally, this role also supports front-desk operations, providing accurate program information, performing administrative tasks, overseeing student assistants, supporting various office functions as needed, and delivering exceptional customer service and fostering positive relationships with students, parents, and community members. This role is instrumental to contributing to the department’s efforts to assist newly admitted and current students, along with their parents/supporters, by connecting them to resources and programs that facilitate a smooth and engaging transition to campus life.
Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities- Program Development and Implementation:
Collaborate with NSFP Associate Director and staff to design, coordinate, implement, staff, and evaluate First-Year Beach Connection (FYBC) programming that support students’ orientation, transition and retention. - Administrative Support:
Operate campus systems including CMS Student Administration, CSLink, Team Dynamics, Slate, Drupal, Clerk Chat, and Docu Sign. - Staff Support for NSFP Programs/Events/Trainings:
Assist Fiscal & Operations Analyst and Administrative Support Assistant with selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of student assistants; assign tasks/projects and coordinate work schedules. - Customer Service Relations:
Supports responding to and managing department phone calls, TDX ticket system, and department emails.
New Student & Family Programs
Time Base1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of AppointmentThis is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
Classification CompensationSalary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range:
The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,047 (Step #1) - $5,896 (Step #20) per month.
