Position: Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 3805)

Overview

Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 3805) s role supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and helps promote a sales culture by delivering outstanding guest service and knowledgeable product guidance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, address questions/concerns promptly and courteously, inform guests of promotions, and promote loyalty programs.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases and returns accurately using the POS system, ensuring a smooth and friendly checkout experience.
  • Respond to guest inquiries in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
  • Promote Game Stop guest benefits (e.g., reservations program, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Monitor associate performance, provide feedback, and address issues in line with company expectations.
  • Provide recognition and document performance feedback in the appropriate HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance for associates before opening or closing shifts; maintain knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics.
  • Assist with scheduling to ensure staffing coverage and optimal guest service; supervise staff in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Approve payroll, manage time off and edits, and verify compensation for time worked.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment function properly.
  • Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and support daily shipping.
  • Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct safety checks and raise concerns to the Store Manager.
  • Support sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
  • Conduct inventory counts, stock replenishment, and movement of merchandise from stock to floor.
  • Count and reconcile daily transactions; manage cash and daily bank deposits per guidelines.
  • Verify shipments, conduct inventories, and report discrepancies.
  • Process defectives/recalls and ensure proper labeling and packing lists.
  • Maintain guest and associate safety awareness; report injuries per guidelines.
  • Maintain store records in an organized manner; ensure manuals are up to date.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Adhere to all Game Stop policies and procedures and opening/closing procedures.
Qualifications
  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic mathematics; ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Ability to manage tasks under pressure and adapt to change; problem-solving mindset.
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs; ability to climb ladders and perform light physical tasks.
  • Note:

    Military rank/insignia understanding may apply for stores located on military bases if applicable.
