Here is some of what you can expect from being a Histotechnologist with us:

• Provide quality service, safe, accurate, and timely testing for patients from neonates through geriatric patients, in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, and CLIA 88 Standards.
• Integrate current scientific knowledge with technical competency within the Pathology Department.
• Continuously strive to improve clinical testing, confidence, and knowledge through formal and informal education.
• Maintain knowledge of age-related quality of patient care for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

• ASCP preferred. Eligible for registry; continued employment will be based on licensure.
• AS or BS degree in related sciences preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and expertise.
• Working knowledge of all Histology Procedures—Embedding, Microtomy, Tissue Processing, Fixation, Decalcification, Routine and Special Staining, and Immunohistochemistry.
• Familiarity with all equipment in the Histology Laboratory.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments or refer to appropriate sources for repairs.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to embed 75 blocks an hour.
• Ability to cut 50 slides an hour.
• Ability to perform H&E stain with consistent results.
• Ability to perform all special stains and IHC procedures without unnecessary repeats.
• Ability to cut and stain a frozen section in 5 minutes.
• Ability to perform all cytology slide preparation work.
• Ability to order pathology specimens accurately and efficiently.
• Ability to provide quick, accurate customer service.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately.
• Ability to adjust to changing workload.
