The OR Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgical procedures and is responsible for the clerical and receptionist functions essential to delivering efficient patient care in the Surgical Services Department. The Operating Room Scheduler may rotate to other areas other than his/her normally assigned service (surgery), and will perform those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. The Operating Room Scheduler performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan for SRMC, including scheduling for Endoscopy, Pre Admission Testing, and resource management for Interventional Radiology.

The Operating Room Scheduler supports and follows SRMC policy and procedures. The Operating Room Scheduler works closely with the OR staff to maintain accuracy of scheduled case times, flow of the OR schedule, accuracy of preference cards, and accuracy of block schedule.

The OR Scheduler enters clinical data into In Vivo Link  system, enters data for immediate use for Sterile Processing Department, and accurately maintains employee time via Kronos system. The OR Scheduler participates in quality efficiency meetings, including Metric Review and Case Cancellation. The OR Scheduler evaluates cancellations, analyzes available data, reports recommendations, and implements changes.
