Location: Split Campus – Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County (3 days) and Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado (2 days)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Dean of Student Services

Work Schedule: Faculty Calendar, Monday–Friday, including typical school days, professional development, and workdays

Position Overview

Ascent Classical Academy seeks a skilled, mission‑driven School Psychologist to support student learning, social‑emotional well‑being, and academic success across two campuses. This split‑campus role will be 60% at Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County in Lone Tree and 40% at Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver, Thornton CO. The position provides psychological assessment, counseling, consultation, and intervention services for students in both general and specialized educational programs.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, compassionate, and committed to fostering student growth while promoting a positive, inclusive school environment aligned with classical education values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to identify students' academic, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Interpret assessment results and develop strategies to support student learning and personal development
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Provide consultation and guidance to faculty and staff on instructional strategies, behavior management, and mental health support
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to create a positive school climate and promote students' mental health and well‑being
  • Offer short‑term counseling, crisis intervention, and support for students facing emotional, social, or behavioral challenges
  • Design and implement individual and group interventions for academic, behavioral, and social‑emotional development
  • Support students through transitions, including grade‑level changes or family adjustments
  • Assist in the development and implementation of school‑wide programs promoting positive behavior, safety, and inclusivity
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education to maintain current best practices in school psychology
  • Maintain accurate, compliant records of assessments, interventions, and consultations
  • Prepare reports for school and district administration as required
Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Education or Psychology from an accredited program
  • Valid state certification as a School Psychologist (NCSP preferred)
  • Previous school experience preferred; understanding of classical education values a plus
  • Strong assessment, counseling, and consultation skills
  • Ability to work with diverse student populations and collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, and administrators
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of state and federal special education and mental health laws
  • Compassionate, ethical, and professional approach to student and family support
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and mission‑aligned school culture
  • Knowledge of classical education or willingness to learn
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment with superior organizational and computer skills
  • Ability to develop positive, professional relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Commitment to punctuality, excellent attendance, and performing additional duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to traverse classrooms and adjust height or posture to work with students
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or working on a computer
  • Ability to supervise indoor and outdoor student activities
