PURPOSE:
The facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for building and equipment maintenance and upkeep. Skilled in a variety of areas, including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems. Duties include inspecting buildings, maintaining inventory, and scheduling repairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:- Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues. Perform basic facility upkeep tasks (painting, carpentry, Plumbing, housekeeping, and limited electrical tasks such as light bulb changing, etc.).
- Performs basic building and grounds repairs and maintenance on material handling equipment, including faulty equipment units and damaged structures.
- Uses power tools to perform job tasks safely and with desired results. Services basic mechanical devices and functions within the operations. Ability to operate alternate facility PIT (scissor lift, sit-down fork, etc.) safely and within expectations of site leadership.
- Follow preventative maintenance procedures and assist with the development and implementation of all new procedures.
- Performs basic wiring, motor hookups, conveyor assembly, and chain, sprocket, belt, and sheave repairs. Ability to perform basic PM and repairs to UPS system, compressors, diverters, motors, and batteries.
- Must be able to accurately and legibly complete required paperwork and documentation, schedule and coordinate work orders and repairs. Must use a PC.
- Conducting periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.
- Maintaining inventory records for equipment and supplies. As well as perform other relevant job duties as required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 2-3 years of on-the-job experience.
- Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
- Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology, or a relevant field is preferred.
- Effective problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of production functions.
- Ability to work well independently
- Good judgment is required, as there may be times when immediate supervision is not available
Warehouse Role Examples
- Ability to work in freezing temperatures ranging from
-20 degrees below zero. - Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Work at heights of 40 feet or higher, in close quarters, or under unusual conditions as required.
- Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist, and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
- Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties. Ability to operate work-related equipment.
