Water Meter Reader

Job Title

We are hiring METER READERS in Swindon; no experience is required.

• Collect data from water meters for both commercial and residential properties.
• Update meter reads accurately throughout the day on a handheld device and enter details on each location.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Retrieve data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters.
• Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
• Perform charge point surveys.
• Drive and be motivated to work in an independent role.
• Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
• Training is 1 week and will be both classroom-based and field-based with an experienced meter reader.

• Full UK Driving Licence with minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences.
• Physically fit and able to bend, lift, kneel, climb stairs, crouch, and walk an average of 4-5 miles a day.
• Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
• Credit Report check (no county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years).
• 5 years employment history.
• Previous Customer Service experience (preferred not essential).

• Pay: £13.01 - 13.85 per hour basic pay (weekly payment).

  40-45 hours with flexible start and finish times Monday to Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am - 8pm.
• Annual earnings: £27,000 to £32,000 average.
• Bonus scheme up to £1,000 monthly.
• Overtime rates (£16 - £25) at manager's discretion.
