ThePosition
We’re looking for a Casual Grounds Person to help maintain our world‑class pitches to the highest standards. You’ll be part of a passionate team that takes pride in making sure our grounds are always looking their best. It’s a hands‑on role, so you’ll need to be flexible, detail‑oriented, and genuinely interested in turf care—especially in a sporting environment. It’s a great chance to grow your skills in a place that supports your development and always aims to be the best.

- Ensuring the Club's playing surfaces are maintained and presented to the highest possible standards using the latest turfcare machinery, equipment, and techniques.
- Match day duties:
Set up practice facilities/fielding nets, positioning boundary rope, setting out fielding discs, positioning sight screens, setting up advertising boards, sweeping wicket at interval, repairing foot holes, re‑marking wicket. - All aspects of cricket ground preparation and renovation including deploying rain covers, mowing, marking out, and the operation of pedestrian and tractor‑mounted machinery.
- Work with our team of ground staff enabling the smooth running of matchdays and non‑matchdays.
- Tidying and litter picking.
- Strimming and hedge cutting.
- Routine maintenance of turfcare machinery.
- Maintain health and safety in the workplace and comply with company procedures and guidelines.
- All other duties consistent with grounds preparation at an industry leading sporting venue.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to delivering work of the highest standard with attention to detail and pride in presentation.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Flexible and proactive approach to working hours, including availability for evenings and weekends in line with the demands of the cricket season.
- Genuine passion for sport, with a clear understanding of the operational requirements of cricket fixtures and seasonal demands.
- Good turf skills and ideally some experience of preparing a cricket wicket.
- Good all horticultural knowledge.
- Turf science qualification or equivalent desirable but not essential.
- Ability to carry out basic maintenance on equipment.
- Spraying qualification desirable.
- Salary: £14.80 per hour
