As an SME Data Migration Architect, you will lead the end‑to‑end migration strategy, design, and execution for transitioning data from legacy applications to the Kraken platform. You will ensure high‑quality, reconciled, audit‑ready data using proven ETL, profiling, ring fencing, and reconciliation frameworks. This role requires close collaboration with technical teams, business SMEs, Kraken specialists, QA, and integration teams to deliver a controlled, cohort‑based migration.
Keyresponsibilities
- Define the overall data migration architecture covering extraction, transformation, validation, ring fencing, reconciliation, and audit control points.
- Design a cohort‑based migration approach ensuring zero double handling, contract reconstruction, and phased parallel‑run readiness.
- Establish the canonical data model to normalise legacy and Kraken differences.
- Architect and oversee ETL processes from extraction to transformation and loading into Kraken’s ingestion JSON format.
- Ensure transformation rules align with Kraken’s domain model, validation requirements, and reconciliation checkpoints.
- Define and implement continuous data quality profiling, cleansing, readiness checks, and exception management.
- Lead the data quality framework ensuring no defective data enters Kraken and historical billing anomalies are normalised.
- Create and govern a centralised ring fencing framework enabling safe validation before go‑live.
- Work with integration teams to define bifurcation logic, routing rules, API constraints, and interim vs. steady‑state integration patterns during coexistence.
- Support formulation of the test strategy.
- Act as the day‑to‑day interface with stakeholders to align scope, timelines, risks, and decisions.
- Manage cross‑domain coordination and dependency alignment.
- Significant experience in software development and Agile.
- Experience in data engineering, business intelligence, and data science solution development.
- Experience with in utilities and large‑scale ERP landscapes.
- Experience migrating to the Kraken (Octopus Energy) platform.
- Highly proficient in data quality, reconciliation, auditability, and migration governance frameworks.
- Experience delivering cohort‑based migrations with legacy coexistence and phased customer movement.
- Ability to work with architecture, integration, QA, and business teams on end‑to‑end migration execution.
- IT qualification – degree or equivalent experience.
- Professional certifications (e.g., MCSE).
