Python Software Engineer – Backend (Fin Tech, London Hybrid)

A fast-scaling Fin Tech is growing its engineering team and hiring a Python Software Engineer to help build the backend systems powering a high-volume, customer-facing platform used across the UK.

This is a backend-focused role working on data-intensive services that sit at the core of the product. You’ll have meaningful influence over system design, architecture, and engineering practices as the platform continues to scale.

You’ll work on reliable, high-performance services that support critical product workflows, collaborating closely with product, data, and platform teams.

You will:

• Design, build, and maintain production backend services in Python
• Develop and evolve APIs, integrations, and data models
• Work on systems that require strong reliability, performance, and scalability
• Take ownership of features from design through to production support
• Contribute to architectural decisions across services, data, and cloud infrastructure
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code
• Focus on simple, pragmatic solutions that scale
• Use modern tooling — including AI-assisted workflows where helpful — to improve delivery

• Cloud & Infra: AWS and/or GCP, Docker, Terraform
• Testing: pytest, automated testing practices
• Delivery: Git Hub Actions, CI/CD pipelines
