Team& Role
The Equities Cash Technology (ECT) team supports the Electronic Trading and High Touch Trading business in the Global Markets and Investment Banking Group. The team provides innovative solutions for low‑touch, low latency trading, including FIX connectivity, low latency market connectivity, smart order routing, algorithmic trading and internal crossing. The EMEA ECT team is a vibrant group of developers, business analysts and QA experts working closely with the business group.
The team supports a fully featured Electronic Trading product set and is rolling out a next‑generation Electronic Trading platform.
This role is responsible for functionally leading a team that works on a number of algorithmic engines that support benchmark algos, smart order routing and internal crossing, serving EMEA and global electronic business. The underlying Java platform is designed for low latency and high throughput.
Main Responsibilities- Delivery of key functional changes to the ETT strategy engines
- Delivery of core framework‑level changes
- Interaction with the quantitative trading group/traders to capture core requirements
- Participation in all aspects of the development lifecycle: gathering requirements, developing code, writing unit tests, reviewing patches and performing 2nd‑level support
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience developing modern systems with automation‑first mindset across the software development lifecycle, especially shift‑left testing
- In‑depth understanding of core Java APIs (collections, concurrency, NIO)
- Experience with multithreaded systems, understanding of the Java garbage collector and low‑latency I/O
- Demonstrated experience in front‑office system design and architecture (algorithmic trading plant and topology)
- Business knowledge of equities and/or derivatives markets
- Understanding of benchmark algo and/or smart routing strategies (VWAP, TWAP, Arrival Price etc.)
- Experience with design patterns (Observer, Factory, Singleton)
- Proficiency in test‑focused development, UML and OO design; experience with Eclipse/Intelli
J, GIT, continuous build servers, Maven/Gradle - Ability to mentor junior members and juggle development with some testing, support, and analysis
- Understanding of Futures, FX and/or FI
- Experience working with agile methodologies
- Knowledge of FIX (heart‑beating, login, sequence numbers, message types etc.)
