C++ Software Engineer - Hybrid

Compensation: Up to £150,000 Base + Bonus

Location: London (Hybrid)

A boutique prop trading firm is seeking a skilled C++ Software Engineer to join a core technology team responsible for building and maintaining high‑performance trading systems. This role sits close to the investment process, where robust and efficient engineering is critical to supporting systematic and discretionary trading strategies. You will work in a collaborative, engineering‑led environment alongside traders, quants, and technologists, contributing to systems where performance, reliability, and scalability matter.

As a C++ Software Engineer, you will be involved in the design, development, and optimisation of trading systems used across the fund.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing performant C++ trading systems and supporting infrastructure
• Improving system performance, reliability, and scalability across core platforms
• Working closely with traders and quantitative teams to deliver technology aligned with investment needs
• Contributing to system architecture, code quality, and engineering best practices
• Supporting the full software development lifecycle, from design through to production

• Strong commercial experience as a C++ Software Engineer
• A top‑tier degree from a highly reputed university in a STEM discipline
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Experience building performance‑sensitive systems
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments
• Familiarity with multi‑threading and concurrency is beneficial
• Experience working with finance is beneficial but not essential
• Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
