At Anaplan, our calculation engine is the heart of our platform, powering real‑time business planning for the world’s largest enterprises. We are looking for a skilled software engineer to join our core R&D team, to help us build the next generation of this engine. This is a true research and development role where you will solve deeply complex problems in high‑performance, distributed computing and directly influence the future of our product.

Your

Impact
  • Develop Our Next Gen Engine:
    Build and enhance the core server components of our calculation engine, including its recalculation logic, in‑memory data structures, and high‑speed data I/O pipelines.
  • Optimise Performance:
    Design, develop, and optimise novel algorithms for high‑performance computing (HPC), ensuring our engine achieves maximum performance on target hardware architectures (including GPUs).
  • Own Your Code:
    Take full ownership of your components from initial design and commit, through to robust testing and deployment in a production environment.
  • Champion Innovation:
    Proactively research and prototype new approaches, contribute to design specifications, and champion modern Dev Ops and software development best practices within the team.
Your Skills
  • Proficiency in a low‑level systems language. Either Rust (the primary language for this role) or C++ with at least some experience of Rust.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a curiosity to learn and share feedback.
  • Experience designing and building high‑performance, multi‑threaded, and/or distributed systems.
  • Comfort and willingness to work across languages and components as required.
  • A proven ability to analyse, debug, and solve complex technical challenges.
  • A "quality‑first" mindset, with a deep‑seeded belief in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.
Desirable
  • Direct experience with HPC and/or applying the principles of mechanical sympathy and hardware‑aware software design.
  • Experience with CUDA C++ and GPU programming.
  • Experience with language design and compiler implementation.
  • An understanding of functional programming principles and concepts.
