A fast-growing AI technology company is expanding its engineering team and is looking for a Scala Engineer to help build the platforms powering next‑generation machine learning and data‑driven products.

You’ll be working at the intersection of AI, big data, and distributed systems, building scalable backend services used by global customers.

• Building high‑performance backend services in Scala
• Developing data and ML‑driven platforms used in production AI systems
• Designing APIs and distributed services
• Working closely with data scientists and ML engineers
• Improving scalability, reliability, and performance across the platform
• Contributing to architectural decisions and technical direction

• Strong commercial experience with Scala
• Solid understanding of functional programming concepts
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and microservices
• Comfortable working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• A collaborative, product‑focused engineering mindset

• Experience with Spark, Kafka, Akka, ZIO, or Cats
• Exposure to data platforms, pipelines, or ML workflows
• Background in AI, SaaS, or high‑scale platforms

• Up to £105k + bonus
• Hybrid working – 2 days per week in London
