Expana is growing, and we’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer who’s excited to shape the future of our B2B SaaS platform. If you love solving complex technical challenges, influencing engineering direction, and driving meaningful impact across teams, this is a role where you can truly lead.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer (7+ years) who thrives at the intersection of architecture, innovation, and technical leadership. You’ll play a key role in defining how our systems evolve, scale, and support the next chapter of our product growth.

• Technical Leadership & Architecture (50%)
• Designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions
• Leading cross‑functional, high‑impact engineering initiatives
• Making strategic architectural decisions that shape our long‑term platform
• Evaluating and introducing new technologies, frameworks, and patterns

• Identifying and solving broad architectural challenges
• Modernising legacy systems and reducing technical debt
• Championing observability and reliability across our stack
• Expanding CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks

• Partnering with engineering leadership, product, and executive teams on the technology roadmap
• Providing strategic technical insights during planning and prioritisation
• Mentoring engineers at all levels and supporting their growth
• Advocating for engineering best practices and continuous improvement

• Technical Expertise
• Strong proficiency in Type Script, JavaScript, and SQL
• Full‑stack experience across modern SaaS environments
• Deep knowledge of system design, distributed systems, and scalable architecture
• Experience with observability tools (e.g., Data Dog, App Insights, Prometheus)
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of delivering high‑impact work
• Ability to influence technical decisions across teams
• Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex concepts
• Strategic problem‑solver with a focus on long‑term technical health
• Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities

• Ownership mindset from design through long‑term maintenance
• Experience driving technical improvements that deliver measurable value
• Ability to lead technical communities and foster a culture of learning
• Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Business‑level English proficiency
• Occasional travel for team meetings or company events
