Staff Software Engineer – Robotics & Life Sciences Automation
Location :
Greater London, UK – Hybrid (2 days / week onsite)
Salary Band : £70,000 - £75,000
About the Role :We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to lead technical direction and deliver cutting‑edge solutions in robotics and life sciences automation. This role combines hands‑on development with architectural leadership, enabling seamless integration between robotic platforms and scientific instruments. If you thrive in complex environments and want to shape the future of lab automation, this is an exciting opportunity.
What We’re Looking For :- 10+ years in high-performance or high-throughput software development
- 4+ years integrating hardware, robotics, or Windows-based instruments
- Expertise in Windows software integrations and .NET
- Strong experience with Python; familiarity with Go, Rust, C / C++ is a plus
- Deep knowledge of real‑time systems, streaming, concurrency, and distributed systems
- Architect and implement high-throughput, real‑time integrations between robotics platforms and diverse life‑science instruments
- Design SDKs, abstractions, and tooling for scalable, repeatable integrations
- Lead technical direction through architecture, patterns, and reviews
