Your Mission

As a Principal Frontend Engineer at Teya you will play a pivotal role in shaping our web platform that empowers merchants in the retail industry. You will own and drive our frontend architecture vision across the organization, leading a critical migration from Angular

JS to Angular 15 while ensuring scalable, efficient, and intuitive solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the full migration strategy for 600+ legacy Angular

    JS files using hybrid upgrade patterns.
  • Defining scalable architectural standards across 9+ domain modules and shared component libraries.
  • Designing and implementing clean, intuitive, and well-tested web interfaces using Angular 15 and modern web technologies.
  • Driving frontend architecture decisions and establishing best practices across the web platform.
  • Creating reusable components and design systems to accelerate development across teams.
  • Championing code quality, performance optimisation, and automated testing in frontend development.
  • Leading technical discussions and influencing frontend strategy at an organizational level.
  • Mentoring and coaching other frontend engineers, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Staying ahead of web development trends and evaluating emerging technologies for adoption.
  • Collaborating with product, backend, and Dev Ops teams to deliver world-class user experiences.
  • Building tools and frameworks to improve frontend development efficiency and quality.
  • Optimising build pipelines, bundle sizes, and runtime performance for enterprise-scale applications.
  • Continuously improving processes while maintaining empathy and consideration for team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional frontend development with strong technical leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale Angular

    JS to Angular migrations.
  • Deep expertise with Type Script, RxJS, Angular 15+, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of state management patterns, performance tuning, and testing strategies.
  • Experience with monorepo architectures, Nx, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven track record of mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
  • Expertise in performance optimisation, build tools, and debugging web applications.
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS platforms and multi-tenant architectures.
  • Familiarity with retail/POS software, payment flows, or inventory systems (a plus).
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong communication skills in English, enabling effective cross-team collaboration.
  • Understanding of observability tools (Sentry, New Relic, Full Story) and monitoring practices.

  • Complete the Angular

    JS to Angular 15 migration with zero downtime.
  • Eliminate hybrid overhead and reduce application load times below 2 seconds.
  • Design scalable architecture supporting 9+ business domains and multiple engineering teams.
  • Improve developer experience, tooling efficiency, and build speed.
  • Ensure production stability while modernising legacy systems.
