As a Software Engineer II you will play a critical role in growing and transforming our Technology landscape by completing advanced end-to-end engineering tasks while providing technical guidance and mentorship to other team members.

In this role, you will primarily support the hx Renew platform, Hyperexponential’s pricing decision intelligence platform, whilst also providing ongoing support to the existing Sequel Ratings system as it is decommissioned. You will leverage your consulting skills and problem solving ability to lead interactions between various systems and technical teams to solve our most challenging business solutions while defining technical requirements and coordinating team resources.

Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.

• Consult with users to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications, manage interaction between the systems and other technical support areas, and define technical requirements and coordinate team resources to solve problems.
• Guide the team to tackle problems at differentiating levels of complexity.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on complex engineering solutions while fostering a team environment.
• Design, develop, analyze, configure by defining technical requirements, test, debug, troubleshoot, document, health monitor/alert, and implement software based on user or system specifications.
• Collaborate with a robust team of engineers to sharpen your skills, learn various emerging technologies while working on key business initiatives.
• Research and apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions for software engineering problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ideally have experience with Hyperexponential's hx Renew, or similar Insurance Pricing and Underwriting Platforms.
• Considerable programming/development experience.

• JAVA:
• Programming/development experience focused on Java and Angular with working knowledge of Web Services (SOAP, REST), Git/Git Hub/Git Lab, and Agile.

• .NET:
• Programming/development experience focused on .NET and/or .NET core concepts and design patterns with working knowledge of:
• web service technologies such as REST, or JSON; automated unit, UI, and End-to-End tests such as NUnit, Mocha, Jasmine, Jest or Selenium; and Dev Ops, CI/CD, and configuration management tools.

• JavaScript:
• Programming/development experience focused on JavaScript concepts and design patterns with working knowledge of JavaScript development frameworks such as React, Angular, Express, or Node.js; design and development of web service technologies such as REST, or JSON; writing automated unit, UI, and End-to-End tests such as NUnit, Mocha, Jasmine, Jest, or Selenium; and Dev Ops, CI/CD, and configuration management tools.
