AVP - Risk Platform .Net Developer at Barclays

Join us as a Risk Platform .NET Developer. You will work in a supportive and inclusive environment, within a trusted team responsible for delivering high‑profile migrations and providing technical solutions, improvements and features for the Counter party Risk Trading business (CRT).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the successful parallel processing of risk trading data within the Investment Bank’s end‑of‑day multi‑asset risk generation platform and supporting and developing intraday pricing activity.
  • Participating in modernization initiatives, including utilisation of GenAI‑enabled development and solutions to improve operational efficiency and enhance internal client understanding.
  • Working closely with the development team, taking ownership of technical components, and growing in influence and impact.

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with .NET programming, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience interacting with web services (REST/WCF).
  • Familiarity with databases (MS SQL) and query optimisation.
  • Previous experience in financial services.
  • Degree in engineering, science or mathematics (highly valued).
  • Focus on performant, efficient code with consideration of algorithmic complexity.
  • Methodical approach with strong attention to detail and delivery.

Location:

Canary Wharf, London.

Purpose of the role: to design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities:

  • Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance optimisation.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration and participation in code reviews, promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and contributing to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices, mitigating vulnerabilities, protecting sensitive data, and ensuring secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Assistant Vice President Expectations:
