Senior Backend Engineer - Breakout Prop

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Breakout, a crypto‑native prop trading platform recently acquired by Kraken, you will design and implement core services that power real‑time trading, risk management, and performance analytics.

You’ll architect solutions that deliver low‑latency, highly scalable back‑end services and RESTful APIs using C# and ASP.NET Core, ensuring real‑time visibility into trading activity, risk exposure, and financial performance. Collaboration with the CTO, engineering, operations, and data teams is key to maintaining the speed, accuracy, and transparency required in a live trading environment.

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance, low‑latency, scalable back‑end services and RESTful APIs with C# and ASP.NET Core.
• Architect real‑time financial data processing, trade surveillance, and portfolio analysis solutions.
• Build pipelines and data models to power metrics dashboards, risk reporting, and performance analytics.
• Manage and optimize complex queries and schemas in Postgre
  
  SQL.
• Integrate APIs with third‑party systems to ensure data integrity and reliability.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to meet demanding uptime and latency requirements.
• Implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data encryption.

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in financial, metrics‑driven, or high‑performance environments.
• Expertise in C#, ASP.NET Core, and Postgre
  
  SQL.
• Comfortable deploying and scaling applications in AWS.
• Experience with API platforms, real‑time data pipelines, or metrics systems.
• Curiosity or understanding of trading systems and cryptocurrency markets.
• Ability to solve complex problems and build robust, scalable software.
