As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast‑paced business grow and evolve. Pixel Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) software enables everything from simple low power animations to rich UI, high‑end games, and on‑device image processing to make the best use of the GPU in Pixel phones. Our team works in Pixel devices from SoC conception all the way to field deployment and beyond. We work closely with multiple teams at Google, including Android, Pixel camera, display, video and power.

As a member of Pixel’s core GPU driver team, you will share ownership of the kernel GPU driver and the user space graphics driver stack. You will be involved in developing new features, devising performance improvements, bringing silicon up, debugging problems and identifying future requirements for both software and hardware in Pixel products.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• Experience with Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and mobile GPU.
• Experience with GPU drivers and embedded programming in
  
  C.

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience in C++ and Kernel drivers.
• Experience with Vulkan, SPIR‑V, Low Level Virtual Machine (LLVM), and graphics pipelines.

• Provide technical leadership on projects and advise Android and Pixel leadership on performance and feature opportunities in graphics software, and scope solutions with partner teams inside and outside Google.
• Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers.
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines, such as working with product and engineering teams to define the role and requirements of the GPU in future product designs.
• Develop GPU graphics and compute technologies spanning the full GPU software stack.
• Evaluate and bring‑up devices and work with product and engineering teams to define the role and requirements of the GPU in future product designs.
