About the Role

We re hiring a Support Coach to join our team based in Elephant and Castle. You will be based within an established Independent Approved Premises (IAP) which is commissioned by the Criminal Justice Service. You will support residents who have recently been released from prison who move into our residential accommodation. We support them in their journey to reintegrate into the community, helping to reduce reoffending rates post release.

You will play a vital role in supporting our residents to rebuild their lives, communities, and provide opportunities for them to do this.

As a Support Coach, you will identify resident needs, and provide person centred, tailored support which helps them to overcome any personal challenges and barriers, to achieve their goals. You will encourage engagement in activities, providing tools and resources for life skills and ensure effective risk management protocols are put in place in adherence to license conditions, with a focus on public protection.

You will work as a team to support the achievement of service KPI s, whilst working together to make greater change.

You will support us continue to work in a trauma informed way, and create a psychologically informed environment, which supports us in creating a safe, respectful, and responsive environment which puts our people and communities at the forefront. Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitor residents’ wellbeing, carrying out regular welfare checks, and responding to any incidents or emergencies
  • Engage with residents building professional rapport to ensure license conditions are met, they are integrating into the communities, and activities
  • Create tailored support plans through one to one sessions, group sessions, and multi agency meetings
  • Support residents to build skills and confidence to encourage independent living and reintegration into the community post prison
  • Plan and deliver activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities. This may include days out the service and in service activities
  • Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals
  • Keep support plans updated on our online portals as appropriate
About You

We re looking for someone who has a true passion to help make a difference and contribute to providing safer communities for all. You will be comfortable working within a criminal justice setting, and supporting residents to have access to tools and resources which can help better enhance the quality of their life after release from prison. You will be able to work in a fast paced environment, be proactive, and be resilient.

We re looking for someone who can connect with people from varied backgrounds and build trust to support them to be the best versions of themselves.

  • Understanding of the criminal justice system
  • Experience in working with people of different backgrounds which may be complex.
  • Ability to engage with people from different backgrounds, build rapport, and empower them to achieve their personal goals
  • Comfortable working with people who have different types of histories of behaviours which have led to in-prison sentencing.
  • IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
  • Cultural awareness, Self-awareness, and ability to identify personal growth areas and take feedback
  • Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents

Salary: £27,000
