Company DescriptionNottingham Women’s Centre is a women’s community and services space dedicated to helping women to overcome barriers, have their voices heard and seek solutions that create a better future for themselves. We do this by offering a network of services that include counselling, advice and guidance, courses, health and well-being activities, volunteering, focussed campaigning and activism.
Role DescriptionNottingham Women’s Centre works to support women no matter what their circumstances are. We have a team of caseworkers who are specialised and experienced in working with women facing multiple disadvantage. We work in a trauma-informed way to help women identify their needs and access appropriate support. For women on community orders, this may include accommodation, emotional wellbeing, education, training, volunteering and employment, and support to access benefits.
You may also work with women in prison, with a particular focus on accommodation and social inclusion needs on release. Within the building there are also other specialist organisations supporting women who have experienced sexual or domestic abuse, and the caseworker role sits within this wider, integrated Centre model.
This caseworker role supports women who may have multiple and complex needs in a trauma-informed and person-centred way. We know that building a trusting relationship makes all the difference to engagement, progress and outcomes. In this role you will work with women from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances, requiring an ability to build relationships confidently, apply sound judgement, and work in a fair-minded, empathetic and solution-focused way.
The role involves a full range of casework and advocacy. You will complete initial assessments to identify each woman’s needs, develop and review action plans, and support women to work towards agreed goals. This may include one-to-one information, advice and guidance sessions; referrals to internal and external services; and supporting engagement with those services. You will use your professional judgement to jointly decide the most appropriate course of action, adapting support as circumstances change.
This post will require an Enhanced DBS check.
