Youth Violence Intervention Practitioner – St George's Hospital
Join our team at St George's Hospital as a Youth Violence Intervention Practitioner. This full‑time role within the Redthread service focuses on providing support to young people aged 11‑25 who have experienced violence, exploitation or other serious challenges while they are in the hospital and after discharge.
Responsibilities- Hold a caseload and work with young people in a range of settings — A&E, wards, community, in face‑to‑face and group contexts — supporting their personal, educational, health and social development.
- Assist with the ongoing development of the service model to ensure maximum benefit for clients.
- Maintain accurate, secure records in line with GDPR, the Data Protection Act and the organisation’s confidentiality policy (training will be provided).
- Collect and record evidence of project outcomes, complete monitoring forms and project progress reports.
- Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of youth violence and child exploitation issues.
- Develop skills and programmes of interventions under the direction of the Team Leader.
- Research and network with other organisations to enhance services and referrals.
- Significant professional experience working with vulnerable young people in a range of activities and settings.
- Experience as an effective team member, within a multi‑disciplinary team and working autonomously.
- Understanding of young people’s physical, social and emotional developmental needs.
- Knowledge of issues faced by those in inner‑city areas.
- Awareness of child protection and safeguarding issues and best practice in the youth work sector.
- Understanding best practice in case recording.
- Resilient and reflective.
- Strong verbal and written communication; able to interact with young people and adults one‑to‑one and in small groups.
- Able to plan and manage own workload.
- Accurate data entry and record‑keeping, monitoring processes.
- Competent with up‑to‑date IT systems.
- Degree‑level qualification in social work, youth work, social science, education or a related field.
Permanent full‑time contract. 37 hours per week, including regular weekend, evening and shift work (7.30 am‑9 pm).
