One year fixed term, full time

The Role

Complex Needs Caseworker provide support services to women affected by multiple disadvantage, who have experienced domestic and /or sexual violence and who have mental ill health, physical health issue and/or use substances problematically.

You will work with women to devise a support plan that meets their immediate practical and emotional needs and starts the process of recovery, linking women to more specialist support services where required. You will work in a trauma informed way and ideally have a background in supporting people with significant mental ill-health and or substance use issues.

Accountabilities
  • Carry out Risk and Need Assessments, develop Support and Safety Plans and carry out key work with survivors
  • Initiate and manage support plans that include delivery of high-quality face to face or telephone crisis intervention, information, advocacy and support, in respect to criminal and civil remedies, housing, health, welfare rights, childrens legislation and other appropriate interventions.
  • Safeguard cases by referring to Social Care and MARAC where appropriate and monitoring and ensuring that duty cases sent to program managers for allocation
  • Participate in multi-agency working and focus groups when requested to do so, and follow through on agreed appropriate actions that arise from these.
  • At all times protect the safety and security of the organisation, service users, staff, volunteers and buildings, and the confidentiality of records and other information in line with data protection requirements.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with voluntary and statutory agencies including specialist substance misuse or mental health services
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • Demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable people, particularly with women affected by domestic and sexual violence
  • Experience of working with women who use substances problematically and / or have poor mental health
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of a diverse and vulnerable client group
  • Sound understanding of domestic and sexual abuse and the effects on women and children
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Knowledge of safeguarding for adults and children
  • Ability to prioritise own work and work to deadlines

    Ability to provide accurate reports and record information
Qualifications

DAPA or IDVA qualified OR extensive related experience.
