Job Overview
This is a field based, mobile position covering XXXX. We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic tradespeople to join our growing engineering family. Our Skilled Engineers are employed on work that is appropriate to their core and specialist skills, but will be expected to acquire elements of other skills to work flexibly across trades. Working hours are 08:00 to 17:00 with flexibility as required.
MainDuties
- Provide a reactive and planned proactive maintenance (PPM) service as per project requirements to all operational assets.
- Provide a multi-skilled maintenance service covering electrical, mechanical and building fabric disciplines.
- Carry out modifications and installations as required.
- Liaise with contractors or external suppliers and clearly communicate technical issues.
- Ensure that work is carried out to a high standard of quality and in line with current legal standards, company policies and procedures.
- Maximise availability of all mechanical and electrical equipment through continuous improvement, optimum performance and cost reductions.
- Maintain equipment using diagnostic and problem solving skills, raising issues to the shift supervisor on time.
- Maintain, repair and calibrate electrical, mechanical and instrumentation plant to optimise reliability and maintainability.
- Provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators (KPIs) / service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Take ownership of tools and equipment and report defects immediately.
- Provide technical support/input to projects and initiatives.
- Ensure work of self and supervised staff is completed safely and diligently.
- Provide regular feedback on issues before, during and after work activities.
- Complete required paperwork and reports accurately and on time.
- Complete required training and development to maintain competence.
- Complete other duties as directed by the Regional Operations Supervisor or Management Team.
- Provide flexibility in work hours for cover during holidays and sickness absence.
- Participate in standby rota for emergency calls outside normal hours.
- Familiarise with business continuity and relevant plans.
- Comply fully with Health, Safety & Environmental policies.
- Complete documentation such as RAMS and adhere to permits.
- Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, informing them of work order progress.
- Proactively walk the floors, reporting maintenance or H&S issues.
- Follow group and company policies and procedures at all times.
- Report any deficiencies in systems, work or equipment that may compromise service delivery, health and safety or the environment.
- Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
- Report any issues or training needs to the line manager or via the divisional incident reporting system.
- Take personal responsibility for Health & Safety matters.
- Experience of working within commercial properties and installations.
- Good understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and its application within the role.
- Ability to effectively prioritise own workload.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change/flexible approach to work and working hours (subject to the EU Working Time Directive).
- Pro‑active and positive approach to work.
- Self‑motivated.
- Good knowledge of building statutory compliance.
- Must hold a full UK driver’s licence.
- Ability to record work accurately on worksheets and computer‑based systems.
- Good communication skills and ability to work within a team.
- Presented in a clean and tidy manner to represent the company professionally, utilising the uniform and PPE issued.
- Responsible for self and others to maintain a safe working environment as per the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related UK and EU amendments.
- HSE management in accordance with our Quality Management System and all legal and statutory requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are informed of work order progress.
- Able to do the job right the first time within a pre‑determined timescale.
- NVQ Level 3 in Heating/Ventilation/Maintenance.
- COCN1 or CODNCO1 (domestic to commercial changeover) – Essential.
