Field Service Engineer
The successful applicant will have the following profile:
- Preferably time served in electrical / controls / mechanical apprenticeship, candidate with previous field service / engineering experience would be considered in the absence of an apprenticeship.
- Fault finding, repair, installation and commissioning experience.
- A full driving license, preferably clean.
- Be self-motivated to work individually but adaptable to work as part of a team.
- Happy to stay and work away on a regular basis.
- Able to communicate in a clear, concise, logical manner both verbally and written.
- Able to complete electronic service call sheets on a tablet / phone.
- Ability to conduct site surveys and compile a detailed report.
- Good customer service skills.
- A positive attitude with the desire to develop and learn new skills.
The applicant must:
- British born (to obtain clearance for some sites they will need to attend).
- Have a good level of fitness due to the physical demands of the job and be able to complete and pass a safety critical medical that all employees are expected to complete.
- Be able be face fitted for a half face P3 mask which requires candidate to be clean shaven.
- Be prepared to work in all weather daily.
- Be able to pass security clearances. Please do not apply if you have a criminal history as you will not pass the security clearances.
- Have a flexible and positive outlook, willing to adapt and react to the daily needs of the business.
- Be able to attend out of hours call outs as part of a rota, this also includes availability for call the closest engineer.
Desirable attributes:
The following qualities would be an advantage but are not essential.
- A working experience and qualification in 3 phase, 18th edition electrical and 24v dc/ac controls systems.
- Experience in PLC controls systems.
- Hold an CS CS, CCNSG, SSSTS or SMSTS qualification (full training will be provided).
- Recognised Health and Safety training.
- Welding experience and qualification.
- Hydraulic, pneumatic or fluid system experience.
- Previous experience with gates/barriers/blockers/turnstiles.
- Some foreign travel may be available but not compulsory.
- Weekends and occasional night working will form part of this role.
- This is a varied and interesting role and would suit a person who enjoys diversity in their working conditions. Working hours are based on a 40-hour week during normal office hours Monday – Friday but working hours will be different on any given day. Overtime will be required at late notice and scheduled jobs will change on a day-to-day basis depending on client requirements.
Working hours will not be predictable. - Out of hours call outs will be a part of this role.
- This position is primarily outside.
- Vehicle (no personal use), uniform, PPE, mobile phone and tools will be provided.
- 22 days annual leave in addition to Public / Bank holidays, rising to 25 days after 2 years of service.
- Salary £35k – £50k (potential earnings including callouts and overtime).
- Uncapped overtime structure.
