Demolition Apprentice

Summary You’ll develop a wide range of practical and technical skills through hands‑on experience, guided by our skilled and knowledgeable workforce and demolition professionals. Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll be supported by a dedicated mentor and an approved training provider, who will give you regular feedback and help you track your progress towards successful completion.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Soft strip and non‑structural dismantling of fixtures, fittings, doors, windows and ceilings under supervision.
- Segregate and recycle materials, handle waste correctly, report hazardous materials and only assist under authorised procedures.
- Assist with ground‑level cutting on non‑structural steel using approved fuel/heating equipment.
- Select, check and use hand/power tools safely, report defects and store equipment correctly.
- Support lifting operations by following lift plans, selecting accessories, slinging loads and guiding plant with radios/hand signals.
- Complete point‑of‑work risk assessments, follow permits/authorisations and wear, inspect and maintain PPE.
- Apply precautions for work at height, in confined spaces and on contaminated ground, maintaining safe exclusion zones.
- Work effectively in a supervised team and communicate clearly using site terminology, radios and hand signals, progressing through CCDO levels as training is achieved.
What You Will Learn As a demolition apprentice, you will gain experience in preparing structures for demolition, dismantling components safely, and working with specialist tools and equipment. You’ll learn how to operate within strict health, safety, and environmental regulations while working as part of a team on complex projects. You’ll develop a wide range of practical and technical skills through hands‑on experience, guided by our skilled and knowledgeable workforce and demolition professionals.

Requirements
- Ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously.
- Positive team working attitude, punctuality, and reliability.
- Basic knowledge of health & safety and security.
- Initiative and problem‑solving skills.
- Working knowledge of maths and English.
- Basic IT proficiency.
We are looking for people with a genuine interest in construction and demolition. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and ambitious, with the potential to progress to a supervisory or management role over a five‑to‑ten‑year period.
