Electrical Construction Fitter role at Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks

Base

Location:

Slough, Swindon, Oxford, Melksham, Andover, Yeovil, Poole New Forest, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Aldershot, West London or Reading. Your home base must be within commuting distance of the depot.

Salary: £34,749 - £40,939 plus:

• Overtime & travel time available.
• 37‑hour working week.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

Responsibilities:

• Deliver high‑voltage construction projects in live electricity substation environments in line with safety rules and legislation.
• Install and commission new CT metering apparatus.
• Operate telehandlers, mewps and construct mobile scaffolds (full training provided).
• Develop personal development plan created with guidance from line manager.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge and experience of installing electrical systems, containment, cabling, plant and small wiring.
• A high regard for safety, understanding of CDM regulations and good communication skills.
• Previous experience: DC battery systems, internal panel wiring modification, multicore cable terminating and gladding, wiring circuit breakers, CT’s/VT’s to marshalling kiosks and control panels, AC/DC wiring, replacing 33kV outdoor circuit breakers and isolators.

Preferred but not essential:

• Knowledge of electricity distribution networks and live substation experience from 11kV‑132kV.
• Qualifications in scaffold, telehandler, furzeweld, working at heights, confined space, asbestos, COSHH, Loler and SMSTS.

Driving licence and flexibility: A full, clean UK driving licence essential. Flexible approach to working hours and travel throughout network area required.
