As the key link with communities across Surrey, our PCSOs play a critical and visible role in helping keep our communities safe, identifying and protecting the most vulnerable and preventing harm. You will also be working towards a professional qualification - a Level 4 Diploma in Community Policing Practice.

Skills & Experience

To apply as a PCSO you must:

  • Be aged 17 at point of application. You must be 18 before you can start.
  • Have a full UK manual driving licence, by time of appointment.
  • GCSE English at grade A*-C/9-4 or an educational equivalent to a Level 2 and, if you are under the age of 19, GCSE Maths at grade A*-C/9-4 or an educational equivalent to a Level 2. You don’t need to have these at the point of application but will need to have achieved these by the date of your End Point Assessment.
  • You must have lived in the UK for three continuous years immediately prior to application.
  • Have leave to enter or leave to remain and work in the UK for an indefinite period.
  • Not have six penalty points or more
  • Not be a member of the British National Party (BNP) or other relevant organisations
  • Not have tattoos which could cause offence
  • Not have served a prison sentence.

  • Starting salary of £29,151 plus an unsocial hours allowance of £1,857 per annum.*
