Duty Control Room Operator

Reporting to: Site Security & Duty Manager / Client Facilities Manager
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (Days & Nights 07:00-19:00 & 19:00-07:00)
Pay Range£14.92 an hour (ATM) – on average 42 hrs a week.
OverviewTo work as a member of the Estate Security Team, safeguarding persons and property and ensuring a safe and secure environment.
Key Responsibilities- Protect client property against loss, theft, damage and waste through proactive CCTV monitoring.
- Manage the desktop-based fire alarm system and respond to alerts/faults as necessary.
- Operate all CCTV equipment and cameras within the Control Room.
- Assist with remote access control across the estate and car parks when required.
- Issue and return security equipment to Estate Security staff (keys, radios, body‑cams, patrol devices).
- Monitor internal and external cameras across the SKD estate.
- Direct and monitor estate security staff to tasks/incidents.
- Direct estate security staff to breaks and cover positions.
- Prevent offences against the law, Unitrust disciplinary codes and policies; report occurrences to Security management.
- Provide full reports on all maintenance and security related issues, following up and closing them; issue keys/passes to authorised persons and keep accurate records.
- Respond to all communications via phone and radio courteously and maintain email correspondence with Security.
- Manage the Access Control System; produce access cards for new tenants/service providers.
- Day‑to‑day manage all contractors on site; report any contractor issues to the onsite FM/Duty Supervisor.
- Ensure assignment instructions are adhered to by all security personnel.
- Comply with company health and safety procedures.
- Assist with investigations using CCTV and other tools as required.
- Prepare accurate and legible reports at all times.
- Co‑ordinate Control Room response to building evacuations/major incidents, supporting the Estate Duty Security Manager/Team.
- Follow call‑out procedures during crisis situations.
- Complete required training and comply with regulatory licences.
- Maintain the Control Room in a safe, clean and tidy condition.
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
- Ability to cope with high‑pressure situations and evidence of supervisory experience.
- Excellent time‑keeping and attendance.
- Current SIA CCTV licence.
- Knowledge of Data Protection (GDPR), Human Rights Act and surveillance regulations.
- Valid Door Supervision or Close Protection SIA licence.
- Excellent customer service, literacy and communication skills.
- Excellent telephone manner.
- Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Smart appearance in uniform provided and required by Unitrust.
- Reliability, self‑motivation and initiative; ability to work without supervision.
- Tact and diplomacy when dealing with clients, staff and visitors.
- Physical fitness to perform emergency response duties efficiently.
