Overview
The Research Support Services Officer will support academic and research staff in developing and submitting research grant applications. The postholder will also manage the project set-up process, including agreeing budgets, reviewing awards (in liaison with the Research & Innovation Contracts team as needed), ensuring a comprehensive handover to Research & Innovation Finance, and facilitating the set-up of appropriate contract arrangements for research projects.
The postholder will assist the Research Support Services Manager(s) in their support of the University and School research agendas.

- Manage the project set-up process, including agreeing budgets and reviewing awards in liaison with the Research & Innovation Contracts team.
- Ensure a comprehensive handover to Research & Innovation Finance and facilitate set-up of appropriate contract arrangements for research projects.
- Assist the Research Support Services Manager(s) in supporting the University and School research agendas.
- Well-developed understanding of best practice in supporting research funding applications.
- Experience in a similar role in higher education and familiarity with the UK research funding landscape and policy issues.
- Excellent communication skills and experience communicating to a variety of audiences; excellent negotiation skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage and prioritise a mixed portfolio of work.

Research & Innovation Services (RIS) and StructureResearch & Innovation Services (RIS) provides a professional support service for research and innovation activities at City St George's. We operate a business partnering model to work with and support our six academic Schools located across our Clerkenwell, Tooting and Moorgate campuses. RIS is comprised of seven teams, covering the areas of pre-award, post-award, research & innovation contracts, business engagement & knowledge exchange, intellectual property & commercialisation, entrepreneurship and clinical research support.

Working ArrangementsAt City St George's, subject to agreement, relevant Professional Services roles may be undertaken in a hybrid way, involving a mixture of working on campus and at home each week. Where a hybrid working arrangement can be accommodated, it is expected that colleagues will spend the majority (at least 60%) of their usual working time on campus each week. Specific details will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.
A hybrid working arrangement will not detract from any comprehensive induction, that will include relevant on-site activities.
