Full-Time | Term-Time Only long term until July 2028

Are you an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician looking to support teaching and learning in a vibrant secondary school?

Our school in the London Borough of Southwark is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our successful Science Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience, a scientific background, or previous experience as a School Science Technician / Lab Assistant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, set up, and maintain laboratory equipment and resources for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons.
  • Support teachers during practical sessions and ensure all experiments are carried out safely.
  • Maintain stock levels, order materials, and manage chemical and equipment inventories.
  • Ensure laboratories, prep rooms, and equipment are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health & safety regulations.
  • Assist with demonstrations, experiment preparation, and the safe disposal of materials.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs on lab equipment.
  • Work closely with the Science Department to support high-quality teaching and learning.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience as a Science Technician, Laboratory Technician, School Lab Technician, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures, CLEAPSS guidance, and risk assessments.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • A science-related qualification (GCSEs, A-Levels or Degree in a STEM subject) is highly desirable.
  • Confident working with chemicals, lab equipment, and scientific apparatus.
