Reporting to the Head of Field Sales, this external sales role based from home focuses on the Central London territory (Post Codes: E, EC, N, NW, SE, SW, W, WC). The BDM identifies, engages and converts profitable new business opportunities while maintaining and developing existing relationships and a strong pipeline. In collaboration with Corporate Account Managers, the BDM plays a key role in executing the company’s distribution strategy and driving sustainable growth.
KeyRoles and Responsibilities
- Follow up on new and existing business opportunities; build and maintain broker relationships and own the full customer engagement cycle.
- Achieve sales targets through understanding stakeholder and competitor positions, with Head of Sales.
- Develop quarterly business plans outlining the approach to targets, seeking approval from the Head of Sales.
- Support the Head of Sales in developing short, medium and long‑term sales strategy.
- Convert and manage opportunities within the territory, originating from Corporate Account leads.
- Perform data input, administration, trend and lead analysis.
- Focus on broker quality metrics and application conversion to deliver good customer outcomes.
- Produce MI and reports as required by the Head of Sales or stakeholders.
- Communicate and promote existing and new product and criteria developments to current and prospective accounts.
- Build meaningful relationships with all accounts, establishing a position of lender of choice through timely communication and broker visits.
- Act as the first point of contact for all broker queries and voice of the broker, working closely with internal broker support teams.
- Identify market trends, requirements and feedback to shape product offerings.
- Support the development of the TML & Bluestone brands and actively promote marketing messages.
- Identify and maximise opportunities for change requirements with policy, product, process and performance measures.
- Lead new business pitches and ensure smooth onboarding of new accounts.
- Represent the business at industry events, conferences and round tables, engaging with brokers to share insights, promote propositions and support education and development.
- Ensure compliance with all Shawbrook Retail Mortgages legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Undertake mandatory learning and training in line with business requirements and time frames.
- Proven experience in a Mortgage Intermediary sales team, specifically within the Mortgage Market or Financial Services industry, covering the Central London region or surrounding areas.
- Strong understanding of the broker market, especially Specialist, Complex Credit, New Build and Buy to Let segments.
- Clear understanding of the regulatory environment, ensuring responsible lending practices and delivering best outcomes for customers.
- Highly motivated with a record of identifying sales opportunities and managing them through conversion and ongoing account management.
- Proven ability to achieve and exceed targets.
- Good understanding of creating marketing opportunities in conjunction with data needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, report and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal colleagues and external partners.
- Experience working within business processes and products and supporting development of new ones as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
