The Role

This is an exciting 12-month fixed-term maternity cover opportunity to join MORI as a Retail Buyer during a dynamic period of growth commencing March 2026. In this role, you’ll work with market-leading brands across the baby and kids’ industry and play a key part in shaping the future of MORI’s marketplace. You’ll have real ownership, influence strategic decisions, and collaborate with passionate teams across the business to drive commercial success.

In this role, you’ll work with market-leading brands across the baby and kid’s industry and play a key part in shaping the future of MORI’s marketplace. You’ll have real ownership, influence strategic decisions, and collaborate with passionate teams across the business to drive commercial success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner closely with the Merchandiser to drive the commercial performance of our marketplace, delivering against key KPIs including sales, margin, and profitability
  • Lead supplier negotiations across commercial terms, brand margins, payment terms, shipping costs, and promotional opportunities
  • Manage and grow a diverse portfolio of 40+ brands and 1,300+ product options, building strong supplier relationships and impactful brand collaborations
  • Curate a compelling product assortment aligned to MORI’s wider business strategy, identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation
  • Shape and deliver seasonal buying strategies that align with broader company campaigns
  • Collaborate with the Growth and E-commerce teams to optimise brand visibility, navigation, and performance across our website and social channels
  • Work closely with the Retail Area Manager and retail store teams to tailor store-specific assortments and unlock growth opportunities across our growing number of stores
  • Partner with the Creative team to seamlessly integrate branded products into campaigns and photoshoots
  • Stay close to market trends and competitor activity, identifying opportunities that support growth while remaining true to MORI’s brand values
What We’re Looking For
  • You bring 4+ years of experience in a branded buying or commercial trading role, with a proven track record of delivering profitable growth across multichannel retail environments
  • You bring previous branded buying experience across both online and physical retail channels, ideally within the toys and nursery categories. Similar category experience will also be considered
  • You’re highly commercial and analytical, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into decisions aligned with key business KPIs and objectives
  • You have a strong eye for product and brands, with a natural instinct for curating ranges that resonate with customers and drive performance
  • You’re confident in building strong, collaborative relationships across functions, working effectively with teams throughout the business
  • You’re a clear, credible communicator who influences with confidence and works seamlessly with stakeholders at all levels
  • Hands-on, proactive approach, comfortable with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” mentality
