Bakery Shop assistant

Role Overview

At Uncle John’s Bakery, we pride ourselves on quality, heritage, and exceptional customer experience. We’re looking for a dedicated Bakery Assistant who can also take on Sales Assistant responsibilities — supporting both production and front‑of‑house operations.

Bakery Assistant Duties

• Assist bakers with preparing dough, pastries, bread, and other products
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across workstations (PPE, sanitisation, food safety)
• Package products for retail, wholesale, and deliveries
• Stock rotation and ensuring shelves and display areas are full and presentable
• Support the production team during busy periods
• Help with early‑morning prep when required

Sales Assistant Duties

• Serve customers with a friendly, professional attitude
• Operate the till and handle transactions accurately
• Upsell products (e.g., party packs, pastries, drinks)
• Keep the shop floor tidy and welcoming
• Assist with customer enquiries and product recommendations
• Help set up displays and promotions
• Support online/phone orders and collection points
• Ensure excellent customer service that reflects Uncle John’s Bakery’s legacy

• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask across production and sales
• Team player who contributes to a positive work environment
• Basic food hygiene knowledge (training can be provided)
• Willingness to learn and contribute to the growth of the bakery

• Early mornings, weekdays, and weekend shifts may be required
