Head of Research

Evident is an intelligence platform that benchmarks and tracks AI adoption across the financial services sector. Since the launch of our flagship product in January 2023, the Evident AI Index has rapidly become the global standard benchmark for AI maturity in financial services.

In Q1 2026, we plan to launch our latest expansion to a new industry vertical, extending our existing coverage of Banking into the Payments sector. In addition to publishing a Key Findings Report, the team will launch several recurring data and insight products that enhance the depth and breadth of our expanding coverage of the intersection of AI x Banking.

We are looking for a Head of Research to drive our research agenda specific to both the Banking and Payments verticals.

Leveraging the data produced by the Evident AI Index, this role will be responsible for end-to-end production of original research insights - spanning ideation, research design, hypothesis testing, analysis, authorship, and continuing updates.

This job requires a proven history of producing data-driven insights - as well as communicating key takeaways from ongoing analysis in a crisp, informed, and engaging voice. The ideal candidate will blend demonstrable research acumen with technical expertise acquired through work either at a research firm and/or a global bank.

Successful candidates will demonstrate equal comfort with quantitative (data) and qualitative (interview) methods and sources. Most of all, we’re looking for candidates that exhibit intense intellectual curiosity and a passion for data-driven storytelling.

• Author an annual Key Findings Report (specific to each vertical), summarising the results and profiling the leader of the latest Banking & Payment rankings
• Partner closely with client strategists to define and iterate Evident’s current point-of-view, prioritizing incoming customer questions

• Author an offset Midyear Trends Update, identifying and contextualizing emerging trends across the methodology driving the Evident AI Index
• Identify, elevate, and thread together interesting nuggets specific to recent Use Cases, Research Papers, Patent Filing, Job Listings, Press Releases etc.
• Interview subject matter experts and industry practitioners to validate our point-of-view and stay ahead of the evolving industry zeitgeist

• Liaise with Research Analysts focused on our topical research (Talent, Innovation, Leadership, Responsible AI, AI Outcomes etc.)
• Ensure key insights from our wider research portfolio are infused into our industry-specific trends
• Conversely, ensure critical questions are proactively addressed in ongoing research, thereby reinforcing the relevance and impact of our collective work

• 5-7 years of research and/or consulting experience
• Direct experience covering the Banking & Payments industries
• Strong background in quantitative analysis
• Excellent written communications skills and a proven ability to produce engaging content

• Understanding of key issues facing leadership teams in global insurers on topics related to artificial intelligence and/or other emerging technologies
• Experience adapting and publishing primary or secondary research in different form factors (written reports, presentations, social media posts, webinars/podcasts)
• Experience working with data scientists, engineers, and design teams to create supporting interactive visualization and/or rich media assets
• Intellectual curiosity about AI topics, trends, and tech impacting the banking industry
