About the Role

A Postdoctoral Research Associate is being recruited to work with Dr Thomas Haworth to work on theoretical modelling of externally irradiated protoplanetary discs. Potential topics include modelling the interplay between internally and externally driven winds. The work will connect to observational collaborations and include simulated observations.

About You

Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant discipline or will have obtained it by commencement of the position. Successful candidates will ideally have a background in research into planet formation/protoplanetary discs however due to the broad nature of the research, backgrounds in star formation will also be competitive.

Dr Haworth and QMUL are committed to improving the diversity of the astrophysics community and particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups.

This position is part of the ERC consolidator grant of Dr Thomas Haworth (funded by UKRI guarantee funding). The team will maintain 2-3 postdocs and 2 PhD students, with flexibility to work together and with others in the department to generate new ideas.
